SHANGHAI — Despite taking place just six weeks after the 45th CIFF Guangzhou, rescheduled for July, this last edition of CIFF has been deemed a success by show organizers, with 1,000 exhibitors occupying 250,000 square metres exhibition space and attracting 118,409 industry professionals.
The September event represented the entire furniture industry chain, overlapping with the Shanghai International Furniture Machinery & Woodworking Machinery Fair (CIFF/WMF) 2020.
With “strict pandemic prevention protocols” in place, the show integrated offline and online activities, as well as digitizing some exhibitions, sending what show organizers called “a positive message that China’s furniture market is recovering and its leading trade fair is immediately returning to normal.”
Among the 50 conferences and forums, as well as 10 themed exhibitions, two design exhibitions were noted as standouts: the EAST Design Show, under the theme ‘Return to Zero’, has hosted more than 50 Asian design brands, academies, design studios, and media; and the Design Dream Show, organised by CIFF in collaboration with Red Star Macalline, Innovation Design Alliance and the Shanghai Promotion Center for City of Fashion to integrate lifestyle, fashion, food, and tourism into the home environment.
The 47th CIFF Guangzhou 2021 is set for March 18-21 dand March 28-31. The 48th CIFF Shanghai will take place Sept. 3-6, 2021.
